Make sure your video card is sufficient to support DX9.0 shaders -- if you're struggling with lower framerates, try switching to DX8.0 shaders; this is a good option on lower-end systems, as you give up a little of eye candy for a big improvement on frame-rates.

Notice that having a newer video card doesn't necessarily mean you're set to run DX9.0 with high-ish settings, the segment where it belongs is important.
For instances, even if two generations old (3 to 4 years), a high end graphics card will always perform better than the latest gen low end card, like examples following:

For Nvidia, a GeForce 7900GT or 8800GT will offer you better performance than a 9400GT or a GT120 card in DX9.0
For ATI, a X1950XT or HD3870 will offer you better performance than a HD4350 or a HD5450 performance in DX9.0.
På mitt system ger de olika värdena för Shader Level i GTR2Config följande utfall
DX7 +3 FPS
DX8 +2 FPS
DX9 +/-0

Ok, guys... this a known problem in pretty much any sim, and this is a veeeeery old trick, and one which will not just work with P&G, but with any other game when using a gaming peripheral. :)

With so many newcomers to racesims everyday, and where the controls input need to be delicate and precise, it's always good to remind this old trick, and it goes especially to those that are not afraid to mess with some tweaks (NOTE: use at your own risk, but it's easy to rectify/change/default anyway).


Basically, and to describe what we're correcting... you notice with any sim, for instances with P&G, when using cockpit view (with visible steering-wheel), and even with healthy framerates (+60fps), if you turn your physical wheel (controller) left-right-lef-right very quickly, you'll notice there's a small delay, like slight lag, in the response to that movement (input) looking at the in-game steering-wheel on screen.


The solution is to have pre-rendered frames set at "0" or "1" (default is "3") in your graphics-card driver options.

"...and how to do it? :confused:", you may ask...


If you have a Nvidia graphics-card, you'll probably need one of these driver tweakers:

Riva Tuner

NVTweak

Nhancer

nTune


NOTE: someone says the latest Nvidia drivers already include this option, with the name "Maximum pre-rendered frames", check if you have that in your drivers already if you do not wish to download one of the "tweaker programs" above.


This is to unlock various extra options in the driver options (in the Nvidia control panel/driver in case of NVtweak).
For the other ones (RivaTuner, nTune and Nhancer), those will have their own separate, extra driver controls.

If you have already installed one of these programs, you just have to change the value of the PreRender (in Direct3D options).
The default value is "3" (three), if you reduce that value to "0" (zero), or "1" (one) you'll have better response from your wheel-controller in game, so the steering response delay will be much improved, if not totally fixed.

If you have an ATI graphics-card, you'll probably need one of these driver tweakers:

Ati-Tray-Tools
(NOTE: latest version of ATT is now compatible with 4XXX, 5XXX and 6XXX series of ATI/AMD HD graphics cards)

RadeonPro



This is to unlock various extra driver controls found in these tools.

If you have already installed one of these programs, you just have to change the value of the Flip Queue Size (in Direct3D options), which is the ATI equivalent for Nvidia's PreRender.
Likewise, the default value is "3" (three), if you reduce that value to "0" (zero), or "1" (one) you'll have better response from your wheel-controller in game, so the steering response delay will be much improved, if not totally fixed.



Some say that using "0" (zero) prerendered frames may cause CTD with some games (I never had any problems?), so use "1" (one) if you ever experience such a problem.

Also note that, with these driver tools you may also create specific game profiles with these values changed/customized.

Så som du har det nu brukar jag alltid köra på, men en sak jag undrat över utan att kolla själv som vanligt, hur har ni ställt in parametrarna under advance längst ner till vänster.

Level of details går ju att ha mer än 100% där.

World movement

Finns på samma sida, raden i mitten något om super fidelity replays som jag har fått för mig dra fps.
Simple debries collision ska väl med ta en del fps om den är UR bockad då?

Hur är det med Trackside characters, drar det fps?

Level of details är på hur långt håll som bilen skall visas med full kvalitet. Jag kör på max (135) däe men det drar FPS. Mellan max och min skiljer det 10 FPS hos mig.

Ja det tar FPS och kan ge upphov till hack om man inte har mycket minne.

Ja. Då blir delar som ramlar av nya "fysiska" objekt som har egen massa och måste beräknas.

Kanske detta "Simple debries collision" ?

Nej. Special Effects är bara saker man ser. Simple debries collision gör att man inte krockar med allt skräp som en kollision lämnar efter sig och därmed blir det mindre att hålla reda och beräkna för CPUn
